Two Brewster Ambulance Service paramedics needed to be extricated from an overturned ambulance after their emergency vehicle was struck by a van in Brockton.

Two Massachusetts paramedics needed to be extricated from an ambulance following a rollover accident with another vehicle Friday.

The incident happened shortly after 2:40 p.m. at an intersection in Brockton, and it involved a Brewster Ambulance Service vehicle and a Chevrolet Express van, The Enterprise reports. According to police, the van was traveling eastbound when it struck the side of the ambulance, which was leaving a gas station.

The force of the collision overturned the ambulance and trapped the two paramedics inside. Footage from a dashboard camera video shows the van as it hits the ambulance, putting the emergency vehicle on its side.

"Firefighters removed the windshield and extracted the female driver and male passenger," Brockton police spokesperson Darren Duarte told The Enterprise.

Once they were freed from the wreckage, the paramedics were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The ambulance was not carrying any patients at the time of the crash.

The van's driver—who also was taken to the hospital for treatment—was cited for driving without a license.
